What Is A ChatGPT?

OpenAI's GPT-3 (Generative Pretrained Transformer 3) is a cutting-edge language processing AI model. It can generate human-like text and has a wide range of applications, including language translation, language modeling, and text generation for chatbots. With 175 billion parameters, it is one of the largest and most powerful language-processing AI models to date.

Founded in 2015, OpenAI was created as a non-profit built on the principles of making AI accessible to everybody and developing the technology safely.

OpenAI, the AI research shop backed by a $1 billion investment from Microsoft, publicly released ChatGPT for users to test in November. Since its launch at the end of November, ChatGPT has lit up the internet, amassing its first million users in less than a week. Its resemblance to the human conversation sparked speculation about its ability to supplant professional writers and even threaten Google's core search business.

ChatGPT exemplifies a growing set of artificial intelligence tools that could soon transform entire industries ranging from manufacturing to health care to finance. Investment in the field has been on the rise. Breakthroughs appear to be multiplying by the day. Many industry professionals are ecstatic. According to one estimate, artificial intelligence will contribute a whopping $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030.

OpenAI was co-founded by Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk and Altman with other investors about seven years ago to develop AI technologies that “benefit all of humanity.” While Musk left the company in 2018 after disagreements over its direction, on Thursday, he offered an endorsement of the model’s abilities on Twitter. Chatbots like GPT are powered by large amounts of data and computing techniques to make predictions about stringing words together in a meaningful way

Microsoft is in discussions to invest as much as $10 billion in OpenAI, people familiar with its plans said last week. Semafor last week reported that the potential investment could value OpenAI at about $29 billion, citing people familiar with the negotiations. Microsoft and OpenAI representatives have declined to comment on the talks.

ChatGPT’s biggest utility could be a financial disaster for Google by supplying superior answers to the queries we currently put to the world’s most powerful search engine.

Google employees questioned CEO Sundar Pichai and AI research chief Jeff Dean about the chatbot's threat to Google last month. According to CNBC, Google has been working on similar technology in its LaMDA, or Language Model for Dialogue Applications system, but faces reputational risk from any mistakes or errors.
